All GCMRG Troops

on 31 Jan 2012. there is a possibility that we can obtain an introductory-level radiation training session with the Galveston-Houston Sector of the Coast Guard.

This training will provide information necessary to effectively assess real world situations in order to ensure the safety of the workforce and surrounding community.

The session would run from 8a to 12n. This is one of the TXSG METLs that we are to accomplish and would be a good time to get it under our belt.

Those that desire to be on the GCMRG WMD team will need this training of course.

Please send me your reply as to whether or not you would be able to attend training on this date. Registration is underway and we need to provide a estimated headcount and gain access to the online registration link to send to you to register for the training.

Company 1SGTs… please query your troops and provide me with a headcount ASAP.

======Remainder of this msg is for GCMRG Sr. Leadership only (Group / Company Commanders, Group XO, and Company SGTs & S1,S2, S3, S4, S6 chiefs)========

1 Feb 2012 is the US Coast Guard Annual Security Exercise (SECUREX 2012). The exercise will be a facilitated table-top discussion of several radiation-detectionscenarios in and around the Houston Ship Channel. In addition to the opportunity to test/validate your own response plans/procedures, you will learn about other agencies’ capabilities and resources for handling this type of an event, and how they are both coordinated and complementary.

As the Group Leadership, we need to become familiar with both the incident and other agencies that we will likely come into contact with during such an event. The entireĀ  exercise is run under the ICS format and may possibly be approved for use as a MEMS practicum.

Please advise ASAP of your availability. Registration is underway and these exercises fill up quickly so we need to provide a headcount as soon as possible.

Leadership only: please send me your availability to attend.

Thank you,

CPT Williams
GCMRG, S3
