TXSG Vital Signs Certification, Saturday, July 9, 2011

Location: Angleton Danbury Medical Center

Because the July 4 holiday weekend with be the 1st weekend in July, Bravo Co. drill will be moved to the 2nd Saturday in July, the 9th, from 0800-1200.

This is a very important drill for all those without a medical specialty and for some of those who are rusty in vital signs. It is important that every soldier be certified in Vital Signs before our southern deployment and we will do doing so at this drill. Sometimes if there is a funding problem, those with no medical skills may be dropped and can not attend our southern deployment.

Anyone from any Medical Brigade Company or Group or Texas State Guard unit is welcome to attend.

We will be certifying everyone without a medical specialty in Vital Sign stations. Southern deployment requirements would be height/weight and BMI, blood pressure, and glucose measurement-we will even do children if the parents will let us. There is sometimes a problem with children getting upset and then the parents withdrawing consent. Sometimes young adults and teenagers won’t let us do it either due to nerves. Many years we have a shortage of glucometer strips.

Please make an attempt to bring your own blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes. If you have any extras, please bring them. Otherwise, we will just share.

A physician’s scale, and glucometers and strips will be provided. If you have any glucometers and strips at home, you are welcome to bring them.

Bravo’s August drill will be at the southern deployment where GCMRG will be operating an MPOD.
